|Dark Willow, Gyrocopter, and Tiny all got watered down, which comes as no surprise given their presence in the metagame as of late. Gyrocopter in particular got the short end of the pole, with Flak Cannon now wearing a 40 second cooldown as opposed to 30 seconds prior to the update.
Clarities are really effective in this metagame, providing lots of cheap mana regen to all personalities that junk spells in the first game. Spirit Vessel has also seen a great deal of usage lately, as a result of its amazing properties and natural progression from Urn of Shadows.
The patch itself will affect the Toram Online Asia Championships (DAC), which kicked off yesterday in Shanghai, China. This is a perfect example of a few of the largest concerns regarding the patch schedule--though this one in particular may have considerably greater implications than those before it due to the fact that DAC is a Pro Circuit Important and not just a Minor.
Of course, whether this is true has yet to be seen. Fans will absolutely have to keep an eye on any metagame shifts through the championship.
Valve consistently revolves The International's visuals around a color or fundamental theme. Last year in TI7 it was an aquatic motif, using seafoam green and sea blue dominating the movie transitions on flow, the banners adorning KeyArena, as well as the map's terrain.
For this year, The International will be going with what Valve requires a "subterranean" theme, together with crystalline green functioning as the principal color. The theme was shown earlier today by means of a post on the game's Steam Community group.
The Collector's Cache is an International-only loot box that has cosmetic items and item sets to get a handful of personalities. Valve made a point to mention that the underground theme in the statement, so that artists aspiring to receive their works into TI8 can weave the associated colors and imagery in their submissions.
Over the past couple of iterations of the event, the Collector's Cache was made accessible only to those that bought the TI Battle Pass for this year--and this year's version will probably be exactly the same.
