The Seattle Mariners will be playing at the corner of Edgar and Dave for a good while longer.

On Wednesday, the club announced that they and the Washington State Major League Baseball Stadium Public Facilities District PFD http://www.marinersfanaticsjersey.com/seth-smith-jersey-c-24.html, the public entity that owns Safeco Field, had reached a new 25 year lease agreement that also has a provision for two three year options that would extend the lease term through the year 2049. The deal was reached in advance of the expiration of the original 20 year lease set to occur at the end of the year. The new lease will start in 2019.

The Mariners will be 100 responsible for the costs of maintenance and operations of the ballpark, as well as contribute to the on going capital improvements.

“We want this ballpark to be our home for the next 100 years. Safeco Field should be to Seattle and to the Mariners what Wrigley Field is to Chicago and the Cubs and Fenway Park is to Boston and the Red Sox. We sincerely appreciate our partnership with the PFD, who share our vision to ensure that our fans will continue to enjoy Major League Baseball in a state of the art facility for decades to come,” said Seattle Mariners Chairman and Managing Partner John Stanton.

The agreement also includes investments in keeping the ballpark maintained in what the Mariners are touting as “first class” condition. Kansas City based architecture firm Populous http://www.marinersfanaticsjersey.com/nelson-cruz-jersey-c-25.html, who has designed the majority of the ballparks in the league, was commissioned to examine Safeco Field and determined that 385 million in capital improvements to basic ballpark infrastructure will be necessary over the next 25 years. In addition, the PFD and Mariners mutually agreed that an additional 160 million in improvements would be made to the ballpark that the Mariners will pay for.

The study by Populous includes 400 separate line items. That list includes systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, elevators, escalators; http://www.marinersfanaticsjersey.com/shawn-omalley-jersey-c-23.html Safeco’s retractable roof; new seats; restroom fixtures; exterior painting, and cable/fiber modernization that will soon need to be repaired, maintained, or replaced after being in use in the nearly 19 years the ballpark has been in use.

Specific to Safeco Field’s roof, the updates will be to the roof membrane, the control system, moving parts Mike Montgomery Jersey, and more.
