Hiya
I got two days ago an email with the new version of spamitbackup... however the submitted username/licence key combination does not work.
What can I do? _________________ [img:8f6c309626]http://www.wsjb78.com/boards/oldron.png[/img:8f6c309626] |

Thx
It's workign now... later today (when I'm back home I'll test if I also can get it to run on Ubunut under Wine... the previous version [the one with the buggy key generation/verification] did install just fine...) _________________ [img:8f6c309626]http://www.wsjb78.com/boards/oldron.png[/img:8f6c309626] |

It seems to work fine under Xubuntu Edgy with the Wine packages from winehq... however one thing is still not working --> I can't build up a connection. What port is required for the datatransfer between the SpamItBack client and your database to be opened? _________________ [img:8f6c309626]http://www.wsjb78.com/boards/oldron.png[/img:8f6c309626] |

I believe it is port 80. However, recently heard/found out that some ISP's block port 80, so we might rewrite it to see if it can be used on other ports. Let me know please. |

Well, it works at university... but it doesn't work on xubuntu through wine (yet)... I have to test whether it works in WinXP in VmWare... _________________ [img:8f6c309626]http://www.wsjb78.com/boards/oldron.png[/img:8f6c309626] |

It should work in VMWare (assuming of course you have port forwarding on and allow windows firewall/etc to allow it to pass through).
Dont exactly know what xubuntu and wine are (although doing a quick google, I guess wine is a windows implementation designed to run on a linux gui interface?) Does the software "run", or you mean it just doesn't send anything/etc? |

Xubuntu is a linux distro
Wine is a program that lets you run quite a bit of native windows applications on Linux Wine is not an emulator but the aim is to interpret the windows inputs/outputs into Linux terms
I got it installed and it runs.. however no connection to the server can be made... this is strange as Port 80 should be open (otherwise I shouldn't be able to surf the web...) _________________ [img:8f6c309626]http://www.wsjb78.com/boards/oldron.png[/img:8f6c309626] |
