I uninstalled SpamItBack about a year ago because it didn't seem to be helping and it crashed a lot. At that time there were about 40 users on the high score list. Now there are only eight users on your high score list. I am 99% sure that the reason why people are uninstalling is because SpamItBack crashes. I tried the suggestions on [url=http://forums.spamitback.com/viewtopic.php?t=169]another topic[/url] (set the CPU Sleep Time to 200; set priority in Task Manager to low) but it still freezes a lot. Have you given up on SpamItBack or are you going to fix the memory leak? If the glitches aren't fixed soon, I'm going to give up on this type of attacking spammers and just stick with [url=http://www.knujon.com]KnujOn[/url].

choicefresh - what OS are you using? I found the Dec release reduced the memory leak issue somewhat but also an upgrade from 2k to XP seems to have improved the situation somewhat

I would also not use the high score list as good indication as to how many are uninstalling Spamitback becouse from what I have seen usage goes in fits & bursts (myself included) - I run the software dilligently for a period of time and then othertimes am either too busy to fire the software off when I get home or simply too tired to haul my laptop out of my bag. My lack of presence on the high score list is not an indication that I have uninstalled and it seems there are otehrs who operate in a simmiler pattern .... go figure ... the bizareness of human nature :)

I'm using Windows 2K. I might get a new laptop soon, though.

Well unless you retain 2k on the new laptop I thik you'll probably see some significant performance improvements. For example under 2k when I left the SIB software running overnight I would have to reboot the machine to get any form of normal response out of the laptop. Under XP I can run the software for several nights before only possibly needing a reboot. Admitedly my OS upgrade was forced on me by being given a new Laptop so there will be an aspect of this that has be resolved by an improvement in the hardware but there is still an element of how SIB acts under the new OS that I am uncomfortable simply dissmissing as being attriuted to the additional hardware resources

You're right. I'm trying it on my friend's fairly fast Windows XP, and after 10 minutes or so it's already up to almost 6500 Personal Credits. Watch me jump up the high score list!

Unfortunately,

1. I couldn't keep it on all night.
2. Even on his Windows XP, with other programs running it freezes every once in a while.

Anyone here know about [url=http://www.spamdspammer.com]SpamDSpammer[/url]? I hear it's pretty similar because it includes a Spam Vampire, but on default it seems to attack Google, Yahoo!, and MSN.

Also, that is a private beta and some parts of the site don't exist.

I've just checked that site out & can say that I'm not happy with what I've seen there. Not only are significant areas of the website not available but also there is very little feedback from the team (and you thought spamitback was slow to reply <grin>).

The final bit for me was reading their 'how it works' page .... a lengthy page of calcualtions and proof on how much you will hurt the spammer site (in the pocket that is) whilst completely failing to mention how much it will cost some users - ie all those bunnies out there who are not running with uncapped broadband links. Now I know the spamitback software works the same but at least he has not filled an A4 page going on about it and making it sound that it only the spammer is effected ..... that and there are apparantly thousands of other people also using attacking these sites along with me ..... dubious methinks

Now don't get me wrong I am not saying that these guys are not the real deal however they so far do not fill me with enough confidence to even allow their software anywhere near *my* machine
