I am unable to get the chat to work. I am running the Windows One Care firewall. Any suggestions how to get it to work?

I've tried to specifically allow port 80 on TCP but that does not work.

I've got the same problem. Maybe it is a bug? Confused

No, it's not disabled. Just a coincidence, I just tried setting it my firewall to allow the chat and got it to work, and then stumbled across this post. I am using the latest version of this program too.

Most of you are probably using XP, so all you have to do is make sure it's firewall is set to allow exceptions, (found on the main page of firewall setup) and then go to exceptions and add port 80. WARNING this will allow any outside IP to access your machine. I have double firewalls, one protecting everything and one on each machine. My main one is a smoothwall that I can select connecting IP address and point it to any given machine. So that smoothwall is the only IP address allowed to access my machine on port 80, all other IP's will be blocked. If you are using any other firewall such as zonealarm, you too might be able to be selective with who can connect. So if you did allow port 80, and the chat doesn't work, check your firewall to see if you have to enter a conneting IP address as well. I also found you may need to stop and restart spamitback after making changes to the firewall settings; I did.

Hope this helps and doesn't confuse you even more. Very Happy

I'd agree, but it stopped working after the last update. And this program has access through the firewall.

I installed the program after the update on Aug 2. I can see you (spaminator) logged in on my chat window. Not meaning your logged in at the time I wrote this post. I've been away for 3 hrs. but I saw your id log in before I left.

then the simplier answer is that anyone using the free version of ZoneAlarm won't be able to do chat as it doesn't allow you to specify by port (only IP address).
