A couple of interesting things happened about ten years ago.Ten years and one day ago Womens Terrelle Pryor Sr. Jersey , Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy protection. Some of you may be too young to remember the name Lehman Brothers or why we should care that they went bankrupt. Keeping it brief, Lehman Brothers was a large investment banking firm that over the decade prior to its bankruptcy had become heavily involved in the sub-prime mortgage lending market. When housing prices began to fall, Lehman, which was leveraged up the wazoo to the tune of $40+ of debt for every $1 of assets on its books, took enormous losses which quickly resulted in the unraveling of its business and to this day the largest bankruptcy in U.S. history. It was the first domino to fall in what would soon become a global financial meltdown that threatened to topple the entire world banking and credit system. Banks refused to lend to other banks, credit markets seized up, and only extraordinary measures orchestrated by central banks worldwide prevented a global financial collapse the likes of which hasn’t been seen since the Great Depression. What ensued was the Great Recession. This was a dark day indeed in world history. Not to worry. A brighter day happened just one day later. On September 8, 2008, a little website named Gang Green Nation was born. An obscure blogger referred to as John B, curiously sporting a coonskin cap, wrote the very first article of the SBN Jets blog. Legend has it John wanted to name the site www.WeWantedSapp but was shot down by SBN bureaucrats lacking John’s vision and sense of humor. Eventually the name Gang Green Nation was settled on and the rest, as they say, is history.According to John, he had been interested in leading the SBN Jets site from the beginning and submitted his application, but others were chosen ahead of him, much to his chagrin. The editors of those predecessor sites were not successful in building a thriving Jets fan community and they moved on to other things, and that’s when SBN reached out to John. In a preview of what would happen when the Jets signed Tim Tebow, most of the visitors in the beginning were Brett Favre fans, as Favre had just signed on as the Jets new franchise QB. Fortunately for Jets fans, John’s staying power far exceeded Favre’s and Tebow’s. By 2009 the two Davids http://www.jetsfootballauthentics.com/doug-middleton-jersey-authentic , Wyatt and Vill, had come aboard, and together with John continued to build something special together. Later, such luminaries as Scott Salmon and GangGreenMag joined the team and the site grew and prospered. The early days were not so easy for the GGN team. For the first several months John was pretty much holding down the fort by himself. At that time GGN had a couple hundred visitors or so and only two or three members who regularly contributed. But with hard work and dedication Gang Green Nation grew steadily. By 2013, five years in, the site had about 9,000 members and a thriving community commenting daily. Today that number has doubled, to nearly 18,000 members, and discussions regarding such obscure tropics as the scrubs who make up the practice squad can draw well over 500 comments. On a really good day we can draw 100,000 or so visitors to the site. The growth in numbers and stature of the Gang Green Nation community has been an immensely gratifying experience for all of us on the staff. With sites like Sports Illustrated, ESPN and Yahoo! Sports routinely linking to Gang Green Nation and citing our work this website has evolved into what we always knew it could be – the go to site for Jets fans and the best dang Jets site on the internet. In celebration of 10 years of Gang Green Nation, we the staff are deeply grateful for each and every one of you out there, our loyal readers, who make this site the wonderful community of crazy passionate Jets fans it is. Here’s to ten wonderful years, and to the years together yet to come.Jets podcast: Breaking down the 20-12 loss to the Dolphins After a stellar Week 1 in Detroit, the Jets fell back to earth in their home opener yesterday. The Miami Dolphins went into MetLife Stadium and spoiled things in a 20-12 game. New York falls to 1-1 in the 2018 season with a short week and a road game at Cleveland ahead. On today’s podcast we break down everything that went wrong. It was an ugly performance on many levels. The offensive line was the worst group on the field, but there were notable contributions in other spots from the receivers to Buster Skrine to the coaches. This was a frustrating performance. The schedule set up well for the Jets to have a big start to their season. Those hopes have been dashed. And it is more due to self-inflicted errors than the other team’s execution. Thanks for suffering through it all again by listening. Your support is always greatly appreciated. _________________ http://www.greenbaypackersteamonline.com/ |
