Mason/Brennan Preseason Hype! Awards: Who’s got the hype heading into the Redskins final preseason game? The Mason/Brennan Preseason Hype! Award has been given out unofficially by the fans for years to each preseason's most hyped players Cheap Preston Smith Jersey , but now we've made it official, and will bring it to a vote. This week's vote counts the hype heading into the Redskins preseason Week 4 game against the Ravens. Place your vote for who you feel has been the most hyped player up to this point, whether the hype is deserved or not.The Rules:1. Player must have been drafted late or signed by the Redskins as an undrafted free agent. Players that have only been on other teams practice squads that are signed by the team are also eligible.2. A player that has been on the team for several years is still eligible if most of that time has been spent on the practice squad, inactive, or with very limited productivity/timeHow have past Mason/Brennan winners done in thr NFL after receiving this glorious award?Offseason Mason/Brennan Winner: WR Trey Quinn (49%)Week 1 Mason/Brennan Winner: CB Danny Johnson (27%)Week 2 Mason/Brennan Winner: WR Cam Sims (74%)The Candidates:QB Kevin HoganCould we really go the whole preseason without nominating a QB for the Redskins most prestigious award? Kevin Hogan threw two TDs in a meaningless game and finally got some hype going into his start tonight. Expect big things in this extended look at the QB looking to replace Colt McCoy...WR Simmie Cobbs Jr.If you score a TD in the preseason and you’re an undrafted free agent, there’s a good chance you’re going to also grab a nomination here. There is also the persistent call to convert Mr Cobbs to TE. WR Darvin KidsyDid I mention that catching a TD in the 4th quarter of a preseason game will get you nominated. Welcome to the club Kidsy.WR Maurice HarrisMaurice Harris hype continues even when he can’t. Harris was cut last year after injuries limited him before final cut downs. People have him as a lock, and he might have earned that spot with a strong camp.FB/TE J.P. HoltzThis seemed like the same kind of hype that Elijah Wellman got simply for being and the roster and being a fullback. Then Adrian Peterson was signed and Jay Gruden got involved with the hype. Will All Day’s arrival get Holtz on the final roster?AD: “[Holtz] made a key block on [the big fourth-down run] and gave me a two-way go,” he said. “If you have guys who can do that, put him out there, because I know he’ll hit it fast and lock on his guy. That’s a lot better for running backs.”RB Kapri BibbsBibbs keeps making plays, and more importantly, staying healthy in the preseason. Is he really going to get cut so the Redskins can keep “Fit” Rob Kelley?CB Greg StromanGreg Stroman has been another decent DB pick from Virginia Tech...so far. But can we see a return, any kind of return, tonight like this for the hype gods please?CB Danny JohnsonFans, coaches, players and reporters still love them some Danny Johnson. He was our Week 2 winner, but he is trying to be this year’s only 2-time winner.DB Adonis AlexanderHe played a real(ish) game and played most snaps at CB! The Adonis Alexander hype has been real since before the Redskins picked him up for a 6th round pick next year in the supplemental draft. The measurables are there, and fans see all the potential in the world.S Kenny LadlerThere is a contingency of fans who weren’t happy with the Troy Apke pick, and are already looking for his replacement. Apke was picked in the 4th round and looks like a lock as the Redskins 4th safety. When asked who should replace the raw speedster, Kenny Ladler’s name is the first one to come up. Ladler’s been solid all offseason, and the former CFL star looks like a player who will make the decision hard for the last few spots on the roster. Have people learned his name yet?ILB Shaun Dion HamiltonDraft steal! Tackling machine! Smartest player in the preseason! From Mr. James Dorsett’s stat breakdown: Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is thrilled to have another big-time player in his arsenal moving forward.Speedy wide receiver Curtis Samuel Cheap Ryan Kerrigan Jersey , the team's second-round draft pick in 2017, returned to action Sunday after missing the first three games due to a minor heart procedure and made an immediate impact in the team's 33-31 win over the New York Giants .Samuel scored on a 25-yard catch-and-run reception in the first quarter in which he broke three tackles , and also had a key strip on a muffed Giants punt return as a gunner that resulted in a Carolina recovery in the end zone for touchdown ."He's always been a key asset for us since day one," Newton said of Samuel. "He may not understand his threshold of greatness. Today you saw it. A guy who is very slippery when he gets the ball, resilient when he's running, and shows you the capabilities that he has."Samuel's rookie season with Carolina was marred by injuries. He missed time in training camp with a hamstring injury and later, just as he was beginning to contribute on offense and special teams, broke his ankle causing him to miss the final seven games, including the team's playoff game against New Orleans. He gives the Panthers another deep threat along with rookie D.J. Moore."We have to get the ball in his hands as much as possible," Newton said of Samuel.Samuel agrees."When I touch the ball I don't feel like anybody can stop me," Samuel said. "Just getting back in the groove, going back to what I was doing in college (at Ohio State), I feel like it's similar to me. My skillset hasn't changed, I can do all those types of things. I just got to show it at this level."Next week the Panthers will get back a big-time player on defense when outside linebacker Thomas Davis returns from a four-game suspension following a positive test for PEDs.Things we learned from the Panthers' 33-31 win over the Giants:MANNING CAN STILL DO ITThe Giants didn't win, but the much-maligned Eli Manning showed he can still perform in the clutch. Manning nearly had comeback win No. 36, putting the Giants up 31-30 with 1:08 to play on a 15-yard scoring strike to Saquon Barkley. That capped a four-play, 75-yard touchdown drive in which he completed all four pass attempts. "I did not need that drive to know about the magic of Eli Manning," Barkley said. "I knew about Eli before I got here, the way he worked, the way he played, how great he is as a leader Cheap Jordan Reed Jersey , how smart he is."ADAMS CAN PLAY TOOWith so many eyes on Eric Reid's Panthers debut , it was team's other safety, 37-year-old safety Mike Adams, who picked off the 37-year-old Manning on consecutive plays in the second half. Panthers coach Ron Rivera called Adams a veteran guy who is a "calming, steadying force out there." Carolina's defense will have a challenge next week in Washington. Redskins quarterback Alex Smith entered this week's Monday night matchup with New Orleans with only one interception and four touchdowns.BECKHAM THROWS TDStrangely enough, Beckham got into the touchdown column with his arm before he did with his hands in 2018. After some controversial comments earlier in the week, Beckham ignited the Giants offense at just the right time by taking lateral from Manning on the left and heaving the ball to Barkley, who'd broken free on the right sideline. The 57-yard score was the longest pass play of the game. "It was a big lift, particularly when you're in a tight game and you have something good that happens," Giants coach Pat Shurmur said. "It jump-starts your team and emotions."RUNNING BARKLEYShurmur's plan to get Barkley more involved on the ground didn't produce the same type of spark, though. Barkley finished with more receiving yards (81) than rushing (4Cool and scored twice through the air. He was repeatedly corralled behind the line of scrimmage for negative yards, starting the game with five carries for minus-4 yards.GANO'S HISTORIC KICKThe NFL hasn't seen a 63-yard game-winning field goal like Graham Gano's since Nov. 8, 1970, when the Saints' Tom Dempsey hit what was then the longest field goal in league history to down the Lions 19-17. It was tied for the second-longest field goal in NFL history, second only behind Matt Prater, who converted a 64-yarder against Tennessee on Dec. 8, 2013.CAM ON THE RUNCarolina's running game wasn't as productive as it has been in the previous three games, held to 118 yards rushing 鈥?below the Panthers' season average of 166. A big reason is the Giants held quarterback Cam Newton to 29 yards on eight carries. Carolina will be tested coming up, facing two top-five rushing defenses in the Eagles and Redskins. While Newton didn't have a huge game on the ground, he did come up with a huge pancake block on Giants defensive end Kareem Martin. Said Panthers coach Ron Rivera: "He is going to lay it out on the line and he is going to help this football team in any capacity he can."AP stringer Eli Pacheco contributed to this report.
