Well, the idea of Spamitback ist great. But like always, there is always a big distrust, if the program is realy doing.
I the source-code available? What I heard from my friends is, that they like the idea, but since they do not know, if this program is indeed not a clever kind to spy out our computers, they don't want to use it. If Spamitback would be opensource if beliefe, you will have a lot of additinal users. And the idea of this program does only work with thousands of users. So why do you not make Spamitback as opensource? |

Well, kind of in a bind on this one.
It would be great to make this an open source project.
The problem is, unlike, say creating an open source webbrowser, this is a very powerful tool that unfortunately, in the wrong hands could easily be misused.
Yes, it would definitely become popular (the source code that is), because then every script kiddie possible would be using it to easily send e-mails to people he doesn't like, and spammers could discover certain techniques we use in an attempt to circumvent the effect it has.
Not sure what to do though to get it to that level of popularity, because yes, speaking from a programming perspective, we can understand the potential concern for spyware etc (which, by the way, there is not).
Perhaps we should charge for the program? That way allaying any concerns...? |
